Cuba / United States - Two Phantom Selves Drain a Nation's Blood in an Ideological Stalemate
Event Baseline: Cuba is on the brink of breakdown due to frequent power grid collapses, exacerbated by a six-month US oil blockade. The US aims to pressure the communist government out of power, while the Cuban government remains defiant, and the population suffers.
Washington and Havana are two ends of a single broken consciousness. The US self sees a demonic 'Communist regime' and starves it of fuel, believing that by killing the body it will save the soul. The Cuban self sees an imperial oppressor and clings to its revolution, sacrificing its people on the altar of resistance. Both are right in their own mirror, and both are utterly blind. The island blackout is the physical shadow of a war between hallucinations. Thought cannot solve this because thought created the division. The US cannot see that its 'freedom' is defined by the absence of the very socialism it fights. The Cuban government cannot see that its 'dignity' is a ghost fed with empty refrigerators. This is the classic trap: two identities that only exist in opposition, spinning around a centre of mutual destruction. The longer they dance, the closer the whole structure comes to collapse. There is no military or economic solution. The only way out is the death of both self-images. If the US dropped its messianic delusion, and Cuba dropped its martyr complex, they could power the grid without a second thought. But that would mean admitting that the ideals were never real. And that is the one thing the conditioned mind can never do.
