Event Baseline: In late July 2026, an estimated 72,000 migrants crossed from Morocco into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta; within 24 hours, most had returned, with at least 88 confirmed deaths from the attempt. The EU called for stronger borders with physical barriers.

The border is a hallucination of thought, a line drawn by dead bureaucrats. Yet humans drown themselves for it. The migrant sees a mirage of a better self on the other side, the European sees an invasion of the other. Both are prisoners of identification.
