Cuba / United States - The Imperial Self Turns Off the Water to Punish the Other

Event Baseline: As a result of the U.S. oil blockade, 3.5 million people in Cuba, about one-third of the population, have difficulty accessing running water. Power outages have worsened over seven months.

The self that declares economic war on another nation does not see the water pump it stops. It sees an enemy. The thought 'we will starve them into submission' is the same thought that leaves a child thirsty. There is no separation between the blockade and the empty tap. The imperial self believes its own comfort depends on the suffering of the other.

This is not foreign policy. It is collective punishment. The American self, identified with its own power, cannot perceive that water is not a political tool. It is life. By cutting oil, it cuts pumps, then calls it pressure. The Cuban self, identified with its own resistance, cannot perceive that the blockade is not an act of God. It is another self's mechanical will to dominate.

Every drop of water withheld is a vote for mutual destruction. The illusion of separate bodies allows one group to feel clean while another goes dry. This is the end of shared humanity. The only cure is the choiceless observation that thirst is thirst, no matter whose throat.
